*Working Dates: Moving date June 11th; In-service dates:  June 16-19, 2026; August 6th is a moving day.  

 

Instructional dates:  Monday-Friday, June 22 through August 5, 2026.  July 3rd is a non-working day.   

 

*Working Hours: 7:45-4:15 unless otherwise notified.   

 

Classification: Part-time seasonal work that is grant-funded.   

 

Job Goal(s):

The primary job goals of the Summer Migrant Preschool Parapro is to effectively become a member of the teaching team and to participate in planning and executing all related activities, including conducting and participating in children’s activities. In addition, the preschool parapro will support the infrastructure of the classroom by participating fully in record keeping, maintenance of the environment, and all other required activities.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education:

Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood or Child Development 

          OR

Child Development Associate (CDA) credential required*

 

Current CPR/First Aid required

 

*Note: Consideration may be given to a candidate meeting minimal requirements for education and licensing. 

 

Work Experience:

Previous work experience in early childhood is preferred

 

Skills:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with Migratory students preferred
• Must be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the children and the program
• Experience working with persons from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds

 

 

Essential Job Functions:

• Assist in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the lead teacher.
• Participate in planning and preparing the learning environment, lesson plans, setting up interest centers, and preparing needed materials and supplies.
• Supervise the classroom in the teacher’s presence and/or absence. 
• Assist with general housekeeping and food preparation tasks.
• Treat all children and their parents with the ultimate respect and dignity.
• Attend all meetings and recommended training programs and professional development.
• Maintain confidentiality about children and their families.
• Supervise and participate in outdoor play.
• Participate in recordkeeping: attendance, meals/snacks, assessments, screens, etc.
• Perform other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the lead teacher and/or supervisors.

Terms of Employment: As per the master agreement and provisions established by the Van Buren Board of Education.
