Job Goal(s):

The overall job goal of the Early Childhood Intervention Specialist is to work with a team of consultants to assist Early Childhood programs in Van Buren County in providing individualized supports to maintain a safe, positive and effective environment for all students. 

 

Qualifications:

 

Education:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Associates degree preferred

  

Work Experience:

Previous experience working with children, particularly those with complex needs, is preferred.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Establish positive working relationships with students and staff.
  • Collaborate with the consultant team to provide support to Early Childhood programs.
  • Provide individual support to students to increase independence, positive behavior and academic skills. 
  • Assist teams in developing functional behavior assessments and positive behavior support plans 
  • Model and coach effective instructional practices, behavior management and crisis intervention. 
  • Collect data to measure progress and intervention effectiveness.
  • Assist students with personal needs (toileting, dressing, etc.), as needed. 
  • Maintain effective ongoing communication with others and participate in planning meetings.
  • Keep others informed of location at all times.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality. 
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and school information.
  • Maintain service log.
  • Follow through on assigned responsibilities within agreed upon time lines.
  • Follow Van Buren ISD school policies and procedures. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

 

Terms of Employment: As per master agreement and provisions established by the Van Buren Board of Education.
