Job Goal(s):

The primary job goals of the GSRP Team Floater are to support the teaching teams in providing high quality services to students enrolled in the program; give relief time to teaching staff to work on child assessment and lesson planning; serve as a substitute staff as needed; and engage in Friday work activities as assigned.

 

Assignment:

Assignment location will rotate daily.  Coverage area Van Buren ISD GSRP preschool classrooms throughout the district.  

Assignment may include lead teacher substitute, associate teacher substitute or relief staff roles.  Location and role may change during the school year based on program needs.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education:

Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood or Child Development 

OR

Child Development Associate (CDA) credential required*

 

*Note: Consideration may be given to a candidate meeting minimal grant requirements for education.  Requires placement on a compliance plan to reach qualification within a defined time frame.  Support for some costs may be available through Michigan AEYC T.E.A.C.H. scholarship program.

 

Additional Certifications/Training Desired:

  • Training and experience in HighScope Preschool Curriculum® 
  • Training and experience in COR Advantage®
  • CPR and First Aid Certified

 

Work Experience:

Previous work experience in early childhood is preferred.  Preference to candidate with knowledge of the Great Start Readiness Program services.

 

Skills/Requirements:

  • Complete all childcare and school related background checks (required)
  • Reliable transportation to travel daily between sites (VBISD mileage reimbursement   protocol will be implemented)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the children and program
  • Experience working with persons from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds



Essential Job Functions:

  • Work with the supervisor to create a flexible schedule to assure fair rotation between all program sites as well as efficient use of travel time and accommodation of changes as needed.
  • Assist in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the lead teacher.
  • Participate in preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers and preparing needed materials and supplies under the direction of the lead teacher in each classroom.
  • Support teaching team in gathering observations and data to support child assessment.
  • Serve as official substitute staff for lead or associate teacher when assigned to that role.
  • Assist with general housekeeping and food preparation tasks.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to GSRP.
  • Treat all children and their parents with the ultimate respect and dignity.
  • Attend all meetings and recommended training programs and professional development.
  • Maintain confidentiality about children and their families.
  • Supervise and participate in outdoor play.
  • Participate in recordkeeping: attendance, meals/snacks, assessments, screens, etc.
  • Perform other duties/responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.




Terms of Employment: As per master agreement and provisions established by the Van Buren Board of Education.
